FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JAN. 30, 2023 -- Christians in four Canadian regions will hold public gatherings this April and May to pray for unity, spiritual awakening, and church vitality and healing across the country.

And earlier the same day, pastors and other church leaders will gather in a seminar to focus on cultivating a strong culture of prayer in each local church.

“We’re inviting Christians in Ottawa, Calgary, Kelowna, Regina and surrounding regions to join for these free events as we invite God’s blessing on our lives and our churches,” says Roger Helland, prayer ambassador at The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada.

Co-hosts include the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada, National House of Prayer, Peace and Reconciliation Network, and Vineyard Canada.

“Now is exactly the right time to increase united prayer in our country,” says Mark Miller of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Canada.

The evening worship and prayer summits, open to the public, will include prayers for unity and reconciliation by a variety of local and national leaders, along with times of small group prayer. Worship will be led by David Ruis, director of Vineyard Canada. Prayers will also ask God for spiritual awakening in our churches and communities, for God’s blessing on our land, and intercession for the needs of our country.

Each evening summit will be preceded by an afternoon seminar for pastors and church leaders on cultivating a culture of prayer in the local church led by Ray and Fran Duerksen of Church Renewal, Jacob George of Centre Street Church, Calgary, and Jason Matta of Hope Church Toronto West.

“We are deeply excited to get together with so many pastors and church leaders to focus on the power and practice of prayer,” says Phil Wagler, global director of the Peace & Reconciliation Network.

The co-hosting organizations are covering all costs, so there are no fees for the seminar (which concludes with an evening meal for registrants) or the evening public gathering.

Scheduled summits include Ottawa, April 14 at Arlington Woods Free Methodist Church; Calgary, April 20 at Centre Street Church; Kelowna, April 28 at Trinity Church; and Regina, May 5 at Regina Apostolic Church of Pentecost.
