The EFC expresses our deepest sympathy, lament and sorrow in light of the tragic mass shooting that took place on February 10, 2026, at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and in the nearby community in British Columbia.
We lament before God for those who were killed. We pray for full recovery of those injured. No words are adequate to express our grief for families, friends and communities who bear the burden of this tragic loss. We pray for all who grieve.
In sorrow, we hold fast to the God who draws near to the broken-hearted and who calls the body of Christ to stand with those who mourn (Psalm 34:18; Matthew 5:4).
We call on all who follow Christ to join in earnest prayer:
- Pray for comfort, strength and peace for the families and friends of those who were killed and injured.
- Pray for the students, staff and first responders who experienced terror and loss firsthand.
- Pray for wisdom, compassion and discernment for community leaders, medical personnel and counsellors providing care and support.
- Pray that the Church would be a witness of Christ’s love, offering hope, healing and care in the midst of grief.
