EFC offers election resources
A federal election has been called for April 28, 2025. When Christians vote, we actively seek the good of those around us and our country (Jer. 29:5-6).
During the campaign, candidates will be engaging with us in various ways. The EFC is creating short overviews on active policy issues that you can use for your reference or give to your candidate. You can find two such overviews on the EFC’s election page now: “How Euthanasia is impacting Canadians” and “Protecting kids online.” Watch for more issues to be posted on the EFC’s election page, along with the EFC’s 2025 election brochure and other resources.
EFC comes to Atlantic Canada
This Sunday begins a spring series of EFC events in Atlantic Canada.
EFC President David Guretzki will speak at Tidal Church in Moncton, N.B., this Sunday March 30 and welcome pastors to a ministerial luncheon on April 2 at Hillside Baptist Church, Moncton.
Atlantic Canada residents are also invited to attend the EFC’s May 3 Faith Matters workshop at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Moncton. Guretzki will discuss medical assistance in dying, why the threat of its expansion persists, and how we as Christians can respond. EFC researcher Lindsay Callaway will also share about the Parenting Faith research on how parents and grandparents can disciple their children in the home.
EFC seeking communications manager
The EFC is seeking a Communications and Marketing Manager for a hybrid position in Ottawa. This role includes leading the dynamic EFC communications team, strengthening the EFC’s brand, coordinating the EFC’s various communications platforms, and more. See TheEFC.ca/Jobs.
How to fight fairly
Genesis 33 gives a powerful account of how Esau and Jacob resolved their 20-year conflict. Fellowship Skills columnist Tim Plant says the Jacob-Esau story teaches “disagreements can be messy and uncomfortable, but we can work through them and arrive in a better place.”
You can read more Fellowship Skills columns and other articles to encourage, inform and inspire you in Faith Today. Subscribe for free to this bi-monthly magazine published by the EFC.
Charitable receipt for January and February 2025
On January 23 the federal government released draft legislation to extend the 2024 charitable donation deadline to February 28, 2025. This change gives Canadians the option to claim their January and February 2025 donations in their 2024 tax return. Parliament will be asked to approve this change retroactively when it returns.
To keep costs down, the EFC will only be sending receipts for January and February donations upon request (by email at efc@theEFC.ca or by phone at 1-866-302-3362). All requests made by March 31 will be processed in April and delivered by April 15.
