Join the EFC’s ‘Before It’s Too Late Campaign’ to Roll Back MAiD for Mental Illness

Bill C-314 would reverse the law allowing medical assistance in dying for people with mental illness alone. The vote on this bill is expected to come up in the House of Commons mid-October. Please consider contacting your MP’s office – calling, leaving a message, sending an email or writing a letter. You can also circulate a petition in support of Bill C-314 and return it to your local MP. For more resources including sample wording for a brief letter or call, visit TheEFC.ca/C314.

Prayer to Stop MAiD for Mental Illness

The EFC is inviting your church to join in a collective prayer on Sunday, Oct. 22 for a stop to euthanasia for mental illness. If there is no last-minute reversal, MAiD for mental illness will become legal in Canada next spring. Will you mark October 22 in your calendar and join us in asking for God’s intervention in reversing this legislation? The EFC has resources available for churches who want to be involved at TheEFC.ca/MAiDPrayer.

This Week’s Prayer Prompts

This week’s prayer request is about religious freedom. Pray offering thanks to God for the freedom of religion we currently enjoy. Pray also for boldness to follow God’s calling to be salt and light, for our nation to allow religious communities to exist and flourish, and for wisdom for the courts and elected officials.

This week's EFC affiliate highlight focuses on Voice of the Martyrs. VOM Canada exists to encourage and empower persecuted Christians to fulfill the Great Commission; to provide practical relief and spiritual support to the families of Christian martyrs; to equip persecuted Christians to love and win to Christ those opposed to the Gospel; and to help believers rebuild their lives and Christian witness in countries where they have formerly suffered oppression. Its mission is also to promote the fellowship of all believers by informing the world of the faith and courage of persecuted Christians, thereby inspiring believers to a deeper level of commitment to Christ and involvement in His Great Commission.

You can always find the week’s prayer prompts at TheEFC.ca/TakeAction.
