EFC asks Nova Scotia College of Physicians & Surgeons to protect conscience 

The EFC is asking the Nova Scotia body that regulates doctors to set a high standard of conscience protection. In a letter to the Nova Scotia College of Physicians & Surgeons, EFC Director of Public Policy Julia Beazley writes, “We urge you to respect and protect physicians’ deeply held beliefs and not compel direct or indirect participation in MAiD.”  

Responding to spiritual abuse: New articles, audio and TV episodes 

How can we protect the people we love and our shared Christian institutions from abuses of power? Randal Rauser and Bob Stenhouse of Veritas Solutions, a workplace and regulatory investigation firm, share their expertise in the lead article in the Mar/Apr issue of Faith Today. Lydia Fawcett has years of experience in social work and abuse prevention with Mennonite Central Committee B.C. She spoke with Faith Today editor Karen Stiller about the hallmarks of abuse as well as the signs of a healthy culture in our faith communities. EFC studying online harms bill  

The EFC is studying the Online Harms Act, which was tabled in February. This bill addresses online content such as sexual abuse images, intimate images published without consent, and online hate. The EFC will be developing a summary and resources for engaging with the bill.  

EFC senior ambassador to preach on religious freedom

EFC Senior Ambassador Bruce J. Clemenger will be preaching on religious freedom this Sunday at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church in Arnprior, Ont.
