Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. One in four victims of human trafficking in Canada is a child. Human trafficking is often described as a form of modern slavery. The EFC asked the Minister of Public Safety to put in place a permanent national strategy to combat trafficking. New EFC resource includes update on MAiD
The EFC’s newest resource on euthanasia provides an update on Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) in Canada, including the upcoming change to allow MAiD for mental illness in 2027, the push for MAiD to be available to children and youth, and the need for there to be MAiD-free spaces. Armenian Missionary Association celebrates 40 years
The Armenian Missionary Association of Canada is a newer affiliate of the EFC and shares a report of its anniversary by way of introduction in a new post at TheEFC.ca. An anniversary speaker quoted Psalm 113:7, which speaks of God's purpose to "raise the poor from the dust and lift the needy from the ash heap" and emphasized that AMAC embodies this mission.
Communications staff invited to Winnipeg conference
Christians who work in communications are invited to Winnipeg for a Sept. 26-28 event called Meet in the Middle, hosted by the Canadian Christian Communicators Association (formerly the Canadian Church Press). Check out the workshops and program or register. Both of Faith Today’s editors are involved in this event: Bill Fledderus is one of the organizers and Karen Stiller will be speaking.
