Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the EFC

“May you have a blessed and restful Christmas as we celebrate Jesus together. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”

Watch EFC President David Guretzki’s full message.

The other Nativity scene

As David Guretzki referenced in his Christmas message, a giant red dragon ready to devour a child – one of the Apostle John’s visions in Revelation – seems worlds away from a conventional Nativity scene. But Guretzki writes that “it is Revelation’s Nativity account that most plainly, if symbolically, tells us the significance of Christ’s birth.”

Ten reasons to oppose advance requests for MAiD

The government has launched a consultation on whether to allow advance requests for euthanasia. The EFC believes the ability to consent is a critical safeguard. Read the EFC’s Ten reasons to oppose advance requests for MAiD.

EFC, co-interveners submit legal arguments in Quebec religious freedom case

The EFC and co-interveners have filed legal arguments in a religious freedom case in Quebec. The case is about a Christian organization that had rented a public venue in Quebec to hold a conference. A Quebec cabinet minister cancelled the rental agreement weeks before the event because of the religious pro-life beliefs of the organization. The case will be heard next fall.

Government of Alberta consults on MAiD

The Government of Alberta is asking Alberta residents to fill out a survey to give feedback on safeguards and the oversight of MAiD. Don’t miss this opportunity to share your views. Alberta residents are encouraged to participate by December 20 and to share the survey with Alberta friends, family and church network.

Make a charitable donation before Dec. 31

The busiest time for charitable giving is now. At the EFC, we are praying that the extra generosity of our supporters during this Christmas season will allow us to boldly move forward in our work to “unite Evangelicals to bless Canada in the name of Jesus.” We have accomplished so much in 2024, and with your help we can do even more in 2025. Given the backlog at Canada Post, we encourage you to make your donation online or by phone at 1-866-302-3362 (toll-free). Donations made before midnight on December 31st are eligible for a 2024 charitable tax receipt. For mail-in donations, the envelope must be postmarked no later than December 31.
