Prayer this Sunday for persecuted Christians  

This Sunday, November 5, is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, an annual opportunity to unite in prayer for persecuted believers. Learn more and find relevant materials at www.idop.ca. This year’s day of prayer is again coordinated by the EFC, Intercede International, International Christian Response, Open Doors Canada, Take Heart, and Voice of the Martyrs. 

Steep increase in MAiD deaths 

The steep increase in people dying via MAID continues. Health Canada says more than 13,000 people died by MAID in 2022. See the EFC's snapshot of the new report. 

Canada Summer Jobs study

The EFC calls attention to significant problems with the Canada Summer Jobs program in a six-page submission to the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of People with Disabilities. 

Praying together: A Christian response to the war in Ukraine 

The Canadian Council of Churches, The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and the Peace & Reconciliation Network are inviting you to an online hour of prayer as Canadian Christians on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. Eastern. Details at TheEFC.ca/Calendar

EFC staff speaking on faith formation, small churches, missions 

This Saturday, EFC Director of Research Rick Hiemstra will be speaking at the Toronto Children’s Ministry Conference about faith formation activities in the home. On November 9, he will join a panel on the CBOQ Now Webinar discussing the Significant Church Research.

EFC resident missiologist Jon Fuller will be the keynote speaker on November 3 and 5 at the annual Missions Conference of the Young Nak Presbyterian Church (English congregation). 

Ten days left to register for Ignite Vancouver 

Join the Ignite Vancouver prayer event on Nov. 17 and learn about cultivating a culture of prayer in our churches. Pastors and ministry leaders are invited to the free seminar, followed by a free public worship gathering. Registration is required by Nov. 10 for the seminar and dinner (not required for the evening worship). See video recordings and news reports from this year’s past events on our schedule page. The EFC, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada, National House of Prayer, Peace and Reconciliation Network, Vineyard Canada, are co-sponsoring Ignite Vancouver. 

Hosting community events on the church lawn

For over 20 years, North Burlington Baptist Church has been reaching out to their neighbours by hosting a fall festival and occasional movie nights on their church lawn. 

Women and the Maritime Baptist Missions Movement
