Potential Research Partnership on Women’s Church Participation

A new EFC initiative, the Canadian Christian Women’s Collaborative Network (CCWCN), is exploring the potential for a research study aimed at understanding how women participate in local churches alongside men as disciples of Jesus. During the exploratory phase of the Women’s Network, the steering committee agreed robust research on women would offer important insights about current and future trends in women’s participation at church and identify the obstacles and opportunities to serving in local churches. Several EFC affiliate denominations, universities, colleges and ministry organizations are convening at Tyndale University from August 4-5, 2023, to consult on a research question and discern a research partnership.

Canadian Church Leaders Expand Perspectives on Ukraine Conflict

What do we need to know about the historical and religious context of the war in Ukraine so the Body of Christ can help as a bridge for reconciliation? Read a report from a recent gathering of Canadian Christian leaders representing the Canadian Council of Churches, The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, and Slavic churches in Canada. It's the latest post at FaithToday.ca/AllThingsReconciled.

Democracy and Christianity Linked?

Canadian churches today do not usually tell congregants how to carry out their civic duty; but in the past, church leaders had more to say about citizenship and even believed democracy was inextricably tied to Christianity, according to History Matters columnist Adam Rudy.

This Week’s Prayer Prompts

This week’s prayer request is about religious freedom internationally.

Pray for boldness, strength and help for those being persecuted. Pray for repentance and redemption of the persecutors, for laws that protect religious freedom to be passed and upheld, for Christians to care and act on behalf of the persecuted. Pray also for Canadian government officials to take action on behalf of those persecuted around the world.

Catch up with some of the EFC’s latest initiatives in this area at TheEFC.ca/Topics/Religious-Freedom-Internationally (click “What’s Happening”).

This week's EFC affiliate highlight focuses on Voice of the Martyrs Canada, whose purposes are to encourage and empower persecuted Christians to fulfil the Great Commission; to provide practical relief and spiritual support to the families of Christians martyrs; to help equip persecuted Christians to love and win to Christ those opposed to the Gospel; to help believers rebuild their lives and Christian witness in countries where they have formerly suffered oppression; and to promote the fellowship of all believers by informing the world of the faith and courage of persecuted Christians.

You can always find the week’s prayer prompts at TheEFC.ca/TakeAction.
