Who is Martin Kreplin? Just like you, I`m someone who messes up, but have the grace of Christ available to me – thank God! (Check out Romans 3:23). I have a passion for the church to fulfill its mission to make mature disciples of Jesus Christ, which means making disciples that make disciples of Jesus.
In case you think I`m so heavenly minded that I`m no earthly good, I have a number of interests, some of which I pursue more actively than others. For example, I have run marathons; I enjoy creating saw dust, and sometimes a useful project emerges; I love to camp, hike and canoe in the summer months. You will often find me on `Retreat` which is the name of my motorcycle, an 2006 Kawasaki Concours. In the winter months snowmobiling or snowshoeing will occupy some of my time.
I have been serving Christ in partnership with St. Andrew`s Presbyterian Church, Moncton, from 1999, and it continues to be a joy! I retired as lead pastor in April 2022. I’ve been married to Eleanor since 1981, who serves in a ministry of her own with Changing Tides Counselling. Our three children, Sarah, Matthew and Jonathan are fast becoming independent adults and continue to be a joy to us. As a family we have hosted 13 Rotary International Exchange Students over the years, and have travelled to visit some or to host families of our children who have all been exchange students.
I was born in Burlington, Ont., graduated with a BA from University of Waterloo; an M.Div. from Knox College, University of Toronto; and an D.Min. from Fuller Theological Seminary. My doctorate work was in the area of renewing established congregations. I was the founding pastor of Unionville Presbyterian Church in Ontario; served in Renfrew Presbyterian Church in the Ottawa Valley for 13 years prior to coming to Moncton in 1999. Having married an Islander from P.E.I., (although she doesn’t eat lobster or potatoes!), Atlantic Canada has become my adopted home.
I currently sit on the advisory board of The Greater Moncton Homelessness Steering Committee, and the life and mission agency of The Presbyterian Church In Canada, and convene a committee of the Presbytery of New Brunswick. I have always been involved in ministerial or evangelical fellowships, often providing key leadership, and continue to seek to be an encouragement to other leaders.
