International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Do you know our suffering? This is the theme of this year’s International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, which falls on Sunday, November 1.

Over 350 million Christians worldwide endure intense levels of persecution and discrimination simply because of their faith. IDOP is an annual opportunity for Christians around the world to unite in prayer for our brothers and sisters who are suffering for their trust in Jesus.

The EFC encourages you to incorporate this important day of unified prayer, disciple-making and witness into the life of your congregation and sphere of influence this November. IDOP 2026 promotional materials and a wide range of resources are available upon registration at www.idop.ca.

The Middle East is IDOP’s region of focus this year. You can learn more about the most persecuted regions in the Middle East at the World Watch list published by EFC affiliate Open Doors Canada.

You can also find year-round prayer resources from IDOP partner organizations on the IDOP website.

Week of prayer for MPs

Will you join us in a week of prayer for our local MPs?

The House of Commons resumes on Sept. 21, 2026, after the summer recess. We have a prayer for each day in the week leading up to Sept. 21 that you could use in your personal time of prayer, in small groups or congregations.

Let's ask God to bless our local MPs and our country.

Consider sending your MP a note to thank them for their service to the community and let them know you're praying for them.

Let’s pray for our local MPs by name. You can use your postal code to find your MP’s name and contact information at ourcommons.ca/members.

Day 1 (Sept. 14): Blessing

Father in heaven, in your mercy, out of your abundant grace, I pray that you would bless and keep my MP. I pray that you would make your face shine upon my MP and that you would be gracious to them. I pray that you would turn your face toward my MP and give them peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)
